Cleaning White Vinyl Boat Seats in 5 Easy Steps

Your boat is an expensive investment, and the need to maintain it should be of utmost priority. However, the vinyl seating is the area which is prone to get stained and dirty all the time. The tendency of molds and mildew to develop in these places is also another concern. This situation is a severe challenge that boat owners should take seriously, especially to those using white vinyl seats.

As I have been using white vinyl seats for a long time, I have tried different ways to clean this part of the boat. I have discovered a unique way to clean it using the most affordable products. You will only need five accessible materials that are readily available in the market. These materials include a brush, a microfiber cloth, a bath scrubber, stain remover, and a UV protector spray.
Once you have these materials, the five steps below will serve as your guide to clean your white vinyl boat seats.

1. Applying the stain remover in the white vinyl seats

The stain remover is your best weapon in cleaning stains coming from molds and mildew. What I like about this product is its ability be used to remove the fungi from the seats. There are a lot of stain removers in the market, and I’m sure you are familiar with some of them. I will not be recommending any brands as everyone has its level of effectiveness.

The only thing that I want to emphasize is that the stain remover is an excellent product to have. It is also easy to use and does not contain bleach, which can damage the upholstery of your furniture. All you have to do is spray in the targeted area then leave it for a few minutes. The action is to increase its effectiveness of the product.

2. Scrub the area carefully

The next thing to do is scrub the area using a soft brush. This step will be done a few minutes after applying the stain remover. It is the best time to clean and remove all the dirt while feeling the effectiveness of the product. Doing this should remove all the dirt and stains caused by the molds and mildew.

3. Remove all the debris using the microfiber cloth

The next thing to do is use the microfiber cloth to remove all the debris that was taken after scrubbing the surface. The cleaning will be done in all parts of the seats including the seams, nooks, and the crannies. You will notice the big difference in the cleanliness of your white vinyl seats after cleaning all the debris.

4. Use batch scrubber to remove stains

Doing steps 1 to 3 should clean all the dirt in the white vinyl seats. However, if there are still stains that are not removed, then the batch scrubber should be your next option. It has the ability to clean difficult areas of your seats, including those awkward gaps and seams. This is also the area where stubborn stains can usually be found. The softness of the scrubber will help in removing the stains and mildew quickly.

5. Apply the UV protector spray to protect the vinyl

This final step is just an option, but I am recommending it because it will help you, the boat owner, in the long run. Using a UV protectant spray will assist in preventing the molds and mildew from coming back again. I am also amazed at how it protects the seats from the effect of ultraviolet rays, including cracks, discoloration, and early aging.

As earlier mentioned, I have used white vinyl seats long enough to discover different ways to clean and maintain it. There are many ways which can be done using only pure materials which are normally found in the kitchen. The level of effectiveness of these methods will be yours to discover, but rest assured that I have tested all of this before.

The Baking Soda Method

The first method is to use baking soda to clean your white vinyl seats. There are two different ways to do it during the cleaning. The first one is to put the baking soda to a towel and use it to clean the vinyl surface. This method should remove all the dirt and stain in your white vinyl seats.

The next way is to produce a cleaning paste solution consisting of the baking soda, water, and liquid dish soap. Apply this cleaning paste to the vinyl surface, and you will be amazed at how it removes the stain on the vinyl surface. The stain will be removed by wiping it using a cloth and you will have a clean vinyl seat in no time.

The Vinegar Method

Maybe this will surprise you as a boat owner, but this is also an effective method. This method will let you create a solution of 1-part vinegar and two parts warm water. You can mix the solution with 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap to create a cleaning mixture. You can apply the mixture to the vinyl surface to clean it, and use a cloth to remove the stains.

The Club Soda Method

I never thought that a drinking mixture could also be used to clean white vinyl boat seats. But I have personally proven it to be effective in dealing with stains found on specific places or spots. The cleaner can put the soda to a piece of cloth and put it in the vinyl surface. You will be surprised at how effective it is in removing stains on your white vinyl seats.

The Alcohol Method

This method does not come as a surprise as alcohol has the ability to clean your white vinyl seats. However, the application of alcohol should be in moderation only as it might damage the vinyl surface. Put a small amount of alcohol to a cloth and apply it to the surface to remove the stains.

The Warm Water and Soap Method

This is the most natural solution that can be used to clean white vinyl seats. This solution is safe and does not bring any complication that might damage the surface. The warm water and soap method are a mixture of liquid soap and warm water. You can apply it to the surface using a piece of cloth and see how it removes the dirt.
I am advising you to make a circular motion for it to be more productive. Then you can rinse the surface using clean water to remove any residue and dirt in the vinyl surface.
